So, here we are, election day. In my Pollyanna world, election day is all about empowerment, integrity and acceptance. I also know all about the law of attraction and the fact that what we focus on grows. I had an awareness this morning that it has been a true challenge to stay focused on what I am intent on creating more of in the world - empowerment, integrity and acceptance - and not let the turbulent waters that seem be pushing on the levee surrounding my Pollyanna world - discouragement, deception and rejection - seep in.

In service to creating more empowerment, integrity and acceptance, I spent some time this morning focusing on each of these beautiful aspects of this human experience:

Empowerment: To me, empowerment is about enhancing the capacity of individuals or groups to make decisions. So how can we enhance our capacity and the capacity of those around us to make choices? Deepak Chopra says,

"To make the right choices in life, you have to get in touch with your soul. To do this, you need to experience solitude, which most people are afraid of, because in the silence you hear the truth and know the solutions."

It is my intention to spend more time in the quiet, listening to the wise elder that resides within and continuing to empower (power from within) myself to make choices. Will you join me in the solitude?

Integrity: To me, integrity is being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to our principles and values. So how can we live more in our integrity and inspire those around us to stand more fully in theirs. Brene Brown says,

"Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them."

It is my intention to to be courageous, to be consistent and to practice my values. Will you join me in this practice?

Acceptance: Of these three qualities, acceptance was the one I spent the most time with this morning. To me, acceptance is the hardest to pin down into a definition. When I looked up the word, the meaning that felt the closest to home was: the action or process of being received as adequate or suitable, typically to be admitted into a group. Wow! Isn't that the deepest longing we each experience as spiritual beings having this human existence - to be received as adequate and admitted into the group? As I sat with acceptance this morning a Rumi quote came to mind,

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."

In my Pollyanna world, this is what it all comes down to and the core of the very definition of acceptance. It is my intention to seek and find all the barriers within myself that I have built against love so I am able to truly receive myself and those around me as adequate and suitable and encourage those around me to do the same so we can admit each other into this group that is the human race. Will you join me seeking all the barriers within yourself that you have built against love?

So, now I am off to practice, to practice being empowered, to practice standing in my integrity, to practice acceptance and as I do, in my Pollyanna world, in our world - where we each get to create more of what we want to experience in this one-time-offer human experience - I hope you will join me.
