Isn't it amazing how we are all energetic receiving stations?! It continues to astound me how when things happen in the world, my incredible senses all pick up on whatever that movement is and create sensations in my body. I am so intrigued by how this all happens so magically and so systematically every single waking moment of my life. Once my senses collect these sensations, thoughts appear, consciously or subconsciously, in response to those sensations and those thoughts create my emotions (which are just my thoughts felt physiologically in my body). Those emotions are the number one influence on my behavior, my action or inaction!

After 46 years of experiencing this sequence - movement, sensation, thought, feeling, behavior, I am beyond excited to say that I am finally consistently empowering myself by consciously and intentionally manipulating the sweet spot in this sequence, thought!

Steps one and two in this sequence, movement and sensation, happen naturally in each moment without us having much control over them. Things happen outside ourselves and our senses pick up on those things and create sensations in our system. Now typically when this happens, our brains automatically produce subconscious, habitual, usually negative or limited thoughts in response to those sensations.

Example:

Step 1: Movement - My kids start fighting as I am on my computer, working.

Step 2: Sensation - I hear them fighting. I see them fighting. Their fighting energy is absorbed in thorough my senses.

Step 3: Thought - Immediately, my brain produces habitual, negative/limiting thoughts, like "These kids are constantly fighting. I can't get anything done around here because of their fighting. I should be really angry because of their fighting. If they cared about me they would respect me enough not to fight while I am trying to get things done"... and on and on.

Step 4: Emotion - These persecutor and victim oriented thoughts create the emotions of anger, resentment, disappointment, and on and on.

Step 5: Behavior - I react to all the anger, resentment, disappointment, etc. that I am feeling by yelling and screaming at the top of my lungs and vomiting all that negative energy all over everyone and everything within ear-shot.

I then become the movement (Step 1), creating sensation in myself and everyone else involved (Step 2), which creates new habitual thoughts in each of us (Step 3), mine usually tend to be "What is wrong with me? I teach conscious and intentional living, and here I am degrading my children...I am such a bad mom and hypocrite!", which then creates the emotion of guilt (Step 4), which then typically paralyses me in fear and self doubt (Step 5). YUCK!!!

But, here is the magic of the sweet spot of thought...we can be aware as this sequence is unfolding and consciously empower ourselves at step 3, thought! When we practice noticing the movements around us and how our systems automatically experience sensations in response to those movements, we can choose the thoughts we are going to hold to create energy-rich rather than depleting emotions, which then allow us to take positive action in alignment with being the way we want to be in the world, regardless of what is happening around us!

Here is how the example I shared above actually unfolded, thanks to my conscious and intentional empowerment (power from within):

Empowered Example:

Step 1: Movement - My kids start fighting as I am on my computer, working.

Step 2: Sensation - I hear them fighting. I see them fighting. Their fighting energy is absorbed in thorough my senses.

Step 3: I notice the sensations in my body and choose to hold creator and coach oriented thoughts. I ask myself, "how do I want to be with myself as I go though this experience of my kids fighting while I am working?" I choose that I want to be patient, stay energized, and help my kids take more energy-rich action too. So, I held thoughts like, "I am patient. I can kindly use this situation to guide my kids to better actions. I am such a good and caring mom and I can handle this situation with grace and ease."

Step 4: As a result of these thoughts, I experience energy-rich emotions of hope, patience, compassion and even excitement.

Step 5: These energy-rich emotions let me to take a deep breath and help my kids make better choices and consider one another while redirecting their behavior in ways that inspired all of us.

Wow! Isn't it amazing how we are all energetic receiving stations with the capacity to consciously and intentionally alter the sequence of creation!
